Mexico weather forecast, Digi Mart USA News: Today’s Mexico weather forecast calls for heavy, localized rains accompanied by lightning in central and southern Michoacán, the coast of Guerrero and southwestern Oaxaca. The rain is caused by an upper-level trough over southern and southeastern Mexico, according to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), which depends on the National Water Commission (Conagua).
The system will also bring intermittent showers to Jalisco, Colima, Puebla, Veracruz, Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche and Quintana Roo, with isolated rain in Yucatán. Low-pressure troughs in the interior of the country, along with moisture from the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, will generate showers in San Luis Potosí and the State of Mexico, plus isolated rain in Baja California Sur, Querétaro, Hidalgo and Morelos.
Following the recent advance of cold front No. 4, the system will extend as a stationary front over the northeast, causing showers in Tamaulipas and isolated rain in Nuevo León. Meanwhile, an anticyclonic circulation at mid-levels will keep conditions stable with a low probability of precipitation in the northwest, north, center and east.
In the Valley of Mexico, the forecast calls for a foggy morning with cool to mild temperatures and cold conditions at higher elevations. In the afternoon, warm conditions will prevail with showers and possible lightning in the State of Mexico, while Mexico City will remain dry.
Mexico City’s minimum temperature will be 9 to 11 °C and its maximum 25 to 27 °C, while Toluca expects minimums of 4 to 6 °C and maximums of 23 to 25 °C, with wind gusts of 30 to 40 km/h.
In the central plateau, mornings will be cold with fog in mountainous areas and afternoon showers in Puebla, isolated rain in Querétaro, Hidalgo and Morelos, and no rain in Guanajuato and Tlaxcala. East and northeast winds of 30 to 50 km/h are forecast in Hidalgo and Puebla.
In the northern plateau, effects following the arrival of cold front No. 4 will bring very cold to freezing mornings with fog in high areas of Chihuahua and Durango, with no rain in those states or in Coahuila, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes. Afternoons will be hot in Durango, Nuevo León and San Luis Potosí, with gusts of 30 to 50 km/h across most of the region.
Toward the Baja California peninsula, isolated rain is forecast in Baja California Sur, with cold mornings in the mountains of Baja California, gusts of 30 to 50 km/h and swells of 2.0 to 3.0 meters on the western coast. The North Pacific will remain dry in Sonora and Sinaloa, with cold mornings in the Sonoran mountains, hot afternoons and coastal gusts of 30 to 50 km/h in Sonora.
In the Pacific, Gulf and Yucatán peninsula regions, the heavy rains forecast for Michoacán, Guerrero and Oaxaca could raise river and stream levels and cause landslides, floods and waterlogging. Both regions will have cold foggy mornings in mountain areas and lightning during afternoon rains, while Nayarit stays dry with gusts of 30 to 45 km/h.
Winds of 30 to 50 km/h are expected in Oaxaca and Chiapas and up to 35 km/h in Guerrero.
In the Gulf of Mexico, cold to cool mornings with fog banks in high areas of Veracruz are expected, followed by warm afternoons with showers in Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Tabasco, where preventive coordination against the rains is in place. Gusts of 30 to 50 km/h are forecast in Tamaulipas and up to 30 km/h in Veracruz and Tabasco.
For the Yucatán peninsula, the official extended forecast indicates warm afternoons with showers and possible lightning in Campeche and Quintana Roo, isolated rain in Yucatán and northeast winds of up to 30 km/h. The National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC) recommends heeding preventive warnings.
