Hailstorm on the Mexico-Toluca highway at La Marquesa, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico-Toluca highway, La Marquesa, Mexico): A heavy hailstorm struck the Mexico-Toluca highway at La Marquesa on Thursday afternoon, according to photos and videos shared by users on social media, who urged drivers and transporters to proceed with caution during the intense storm.

Images circulating on social media show the area completely covered in white after the storm that fell over Ocoyoacac and Lerma, giving the landscape a appearance resembling a winter scene from Christmas stories. The hail covered not only the wooded area but also spread onto the roadway, forcing motorists to drive carefully.

Photos also showed hailstones the size of a lemon. Vehicles advanced slowly because of the danger posed by the slippery pavement as the ice melted during Thursday’s rain, causing puddles on the road.

The same conditions were reported on the Santiago-La Marquesa highway.

Some reports indicate the temperature dropped to between 8 and 10 °C. Residents were advised to dress warmly and, if driving, to take care on the road.

Rain also began falling in the Toluca Valley, and the public was urged to carry umbrellas and take precautions against possible flooding on avenues.
