Dandenong stabbing Woodlee Street Melbourne, Digi Mart USA News (Dandenong, Melbourne, Australia): A woman is fighting for her life and two men have been seriously injured after a stabbing at a home in Melbourne’s south-east, with the incident plunging a nearby school into lockdown.
Emergency services were called to a property on Woodlee Street in Dandenong and arrived to find three people with stab wounds at about 11:30 a.m. A 28-year-old woman was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Two men, aged 26 and 35, were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Dandenong Family Violence Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the incident.
Police believe the three people are known to each other and said they are not looking for anyone else. Victoria Police Acting Inspector Rebecca Hall told reporters that police are “trying to establish exactly what has occurred” and said police do not have any concerns for other people.
Hall said the injuries were serious and that the woman’s stab wounds were life-threatening, though she did not reveal their full extent. “It would be confronting for the police officers who attended the scene,” she added.
Dandenong North Primary School, located opposite the home, went into lockdown as a precaution. Hall said the children were inside school premises when the incident took place.
A Department of Education spokesperson said no students were involved, all students and staff are safe, and the school resumed its normal timetable once police advised it was safe to do so.
The school is providing wellbeing support to any students and staff who need it. A crime scene guard remains on Woodlee Street, and detectives remain at the scene as they await assistance from the Major Crime Scene Unit.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
