Caintra Pushes for Dialogue Tables With Mexican Government to Safeguard Trilateral Trade, Digi Mart USA News: Beyond the outcome of the U.S. midterm elections, the Nuevo León Manufacturing Industry Chamber (Caintra) said the trade relationship with Mexico goes beyond the electoral arena.

Jorge Santos Reyna, president of Caintra Nuevo León, explained that the private sector is promoting the creation of dialogue tables with the Mexican government to ensure, through that channel, compliance with the trade agreements between the two countries.

Santos Reyna said Caintra follows the democratic processes of the United States and of any other country. He described the United States as Mexico’s main partner and said the relationship between the two countries extends well beyond any single electoral process.

“We have been partners for many years, and we will continue to be partners for many years to come,” he said.

He added that the private sector is working to maintain open communication with national authorities so it can contribute to solutions through the dialogue tables. According to Santos Reyna, these tables should strengthen the economic integration of North America among Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Santos Reyna also noted that the three countries together account for about one-third of world GDP, a weight he described as especially significant for the global economy. He said the business sector intends to work closely with authorities to strengthen trade and the Free Trade Agreement, and to reach an agreement that goes beyond Section 232 tariffs, which he said have affected aluminum, steel and the automotive sector.
