Two men charged with express kidnapping and trailer theft on Mexico-Querétaro highway, Digi Mart USA News (Soyaniquilpan, Estado de México): Two men identified as Jonathan Alberto N and Héctor Miguel N have been bound over for trial on suspicion of express kidnapping for robbery, committed against the crew of a tractor-trailer carrying polyethylene on the Mexico-Querétaro highway in the municipality of Soyaniquilpan.
According to investigations by the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM), the incident took place on October 12, when the suspects allegedly intercepted a Kenworth tractor-trailer loaded with polyethylene. The individuals reportedly used firearms to threaten the occupants of the vehicle.
One of the victims managed to escape, but the other was forced into the truck’s sleeper cab, where he was held against his will. Investigators say Héctor Miguel N then took control of the tractor-trailer and drove it to another location.
When the suspects noticed police presence, they abandoned the cargo unit and fled. Following the opening of an investigation file, the FGJEM identified Jonathan Alberto N and Héctor Miguel N as probable participants.
Both were arrested and transferred to the Jilotepec Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center, where they were placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
After reviewing the evidence presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a judge bound both suspects over for trial and set a period of one month and 15 days to close the supplementary investigation. The judge also imposed pretrial detention, meaning both will remain in custody during the proceedings unless their legal status changes.
The accused must be considered innocent until a conviction is handed down. The report does not provide further details on the condition of the victim who was held in the cab, and the prosecutor’s office has not disclosed more information about his situation afterward.
