Abandoned road reconstruction in Tamuín, San Luis Potosí, Digi Mart USA News (Tamuín, San Luis Potosí, Mexico): The reconstruction of the main road in the Huasteca municipality of Tamuín, Avenida Pedro Antonio de los Santos, has remained unfinished since April. Open excavations, unfinished drainage and damaged road sections pose a risk to drivers and pedestrians.
Merchants and residents report accidents, economic losses and months of disruption, while state and municipal governments have not offered a definitive solution. Complainants say Mayor Marcelino Bautista attributed the halt in work to alleged payment failures by the state government led by Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, which they say led several construction companies to withdraw.
However, the causes of the delay and the responsibilities of the authorities remain unclear. About a month ago, a citizen commission confronted Governor Gallardo in person during a visit to Ciudad Valles.
The governor committed to intervene and communicated with the municipal president.
Afterward, a company partially resumed work on sidewalks but withdrew one week later. Affected residents say the preventive signage also disappeared and that a promised response within 15 days was not fulfilled.
Anger intensified after reports circulated of a supposed reactivation of the project. Residents deny those reports and say there is currently no machinery, no workers and no visible progress.
Faced with the lack of answers, merchants and citizens warn they could simultaneously block both entrance and exit roads of Tamuín. They demand the immediate resumption of work, a completion date, and clarification from authorities about who is responsible for a project that has been stalled for months, with direct consequences for the safety and economy of the municipality.
