Vincent Moscato Antoine Dupont Romain Ntamack France Rugby World Cup, Digi Mart USA News: Vincent Moscato does not hold back when he discusses France’s chances of winning the next Rugby World Cup. On the Super Moscato Show, the former French international said that without Antoine Dupont and Romain Ntamack, the French team would have no chance of winning the world title.
Moscato was so firm in his view that he made an unusually bold wager. Speaking on the show, he said: “What I know is that if Romain Ntamack and Antoine Dupont are not in the French team, we will not be world champions.
I will eat a rat if we are world champions without them. It is better to be able to win the World Cup with them.
If you have them, you will not necessarily win, but if you do not have them, it is over.”
The former hooker also gave his prediction for the future halfback partnership of the French national team. He believes head coach Fabien Galthié would favor the Toulouse pairing over Matthieu Jalibert, despite the qualities of the Bordeaux player.
Moscato noted that the two internationals were not together in the best conditions at the last World Cup. “At the last World Cup, Antoine Dupont was diminished and Romain Ntamack was not even there,” he said.
He also described how he thinks Galthié would select his players if everyone were available. Despite Jalibert’s performances, he believes the coach would keep his preference for the partnership of Dupont and Ntamack.
“But if you have Jalibert with Dupont it can work, and if you have Ntamack it can work. The one who plays first if everyone is fit will be Dupont and Ntamack, and Jalibert will come on afterwards.
I am giving you the reality of things,” he said.
Moscato added: “Fabien Galthié, Dupont, that is for sure, and I think he will play Ntamack. I could be wrong, but I think so.
And Jalibert will come on as he should.” This prediction would therefore place Matthieu Jalibert in a finishing role behind the fly-half of Stade Toulousain.
Beyond the question of the halfback partnership, Moscato also commented on the current form of the two Toulouse internationals. According to him, Antoine Dupont has not yet fully regained his physical abilities since his knee injury.
He called for patience regarding the scrum-half: “I think Dupont was stronger than he is right now. But we have to let him come back from his knee, he has not yet played enough matches.
I think a knee injury takes a year to return to 100%, and I think he has not yet returned to 100%.”
Romain Ntamack is also reportedly still working to reach his best physical condition after going through several difficult periods. Moscato referred to the successive injuries of the Toulouse number 10: “Ntamack is coming back and he is also not at 100% because he has had too many injuries in a row.
In rugby, you are permanently on anti-inflammatories.”
