Student housing shortage in Ile-de-France, Digi Mart USA News (Ile-de-France, France): Despite a strong increase in supply, affordable housing remains insufficient for students in the Paris region, according to a study published Thursday by the Institut Paris Region.
Over six years, 32,500 additional places have been created, bringing the total to 128,000 places in student residences. This represents a 34 percent increase, driven mainly by the private sector.
However, needs remain considerable. Between 313,000 and 430,000 students would require independent housing, while only 148,000 places are dedicated to them.
The shortage of social housing affects several areas, including Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
