Franck Leroy, Digi Mart USA News: Franck Leroy, president of the Grand Est Region, has just been named deputy president of Régions de France. He will serve alongside Carole Delga, president of the association and of the Occitanie Region, replacing Renaud Muselier.
Régions de France brings together all metropolitan and overseas regions to advance their positions with the Government, Parliament and European institutions. The association serves as a forum for dialogue and proposals to defend territorial interests and inform discussions on decentralization.
Franck Leroy succeeds Renaud Muselier, former president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region (Région Sud), who was elected senator for Bouches-du-Rhône in September.
Through this appointment, Leroy says he intends to promote a decentralization built on trust, accountability and the effectiveness of public action closer to citizens. He stressed that regional executives must prioritize preserving their investment capacity in the face of current budget constraints, particularly in mobility, ecological transition, high school management, business support and youth training.
The new role will also give the Grand Est Region greater visibility to highlight its industrial and cross-border characteristics and its European dimension within joint work led by French regions.
