Éric Antoine responds to Sugar Sammy’s divorce joke on La France a un incroyable talent, Digi Mart USA News (Paris, France): The mood remains playful on the set of La France a un incroyable talent, where jury members have long traded jokes. On Wednesday, November 4, during the fifth audition episode broadcast on M6, Quebec comedian Sugar Sammy once again drew attention, this time targeting fellow judge Éric Antoine.
The magician was the target of a prank arranged by the production and his colleagues, who wanted to retaliate for a joke played on Sugar Sammy the previous year. To carry it out, Sugar Sammy raised a deeply personal subject.
A fake contestant, Noah Miguel, presented as a speed painting specialist, was in fact an actor hired to unsettle Antoine with an unflattering portrait of him.
Behind the scenes, Sugar Sammy gave precise instructions: “We want revenge for last year’s prank, so we need to rattle him and make him think about his divorce!” The joke was bold, given that the host of Les Traîtres went through a painful separation from Calista Sinclair, the mother of his two children, after more than twenty years together.
Asked by Télé-Loisirs, Éric Antoine did not try to downplay the ordeal. “Divorce, for those who have lived through it, we all know that on both sides it is one of the saddest trials in life, especially when there are children,” he said.
He nonetheless said he holds no grudge against his colleague. When he saw footage of the preparations for the prank, Antoine burst out laughing before giving Sugar Sammy a friendly pat on the shoulder.
He also praised his colleague’s talent. “I really like Samy’s humor; his strength is being able to make people laugh about subjects that hurt.
That is the sign of a really good joke,” he explained.
Antoine, who has since found love again with Gennifer Demey, whom he married, said the joke has not changed their camaraderie. “Behind all of this there is a lot of tenderness and friendship.
I absolutely do not take this kind of joke badly, quite the contrary. A good joke is a good joke, and I have no problem with that,” he insisted.
His reaction speaks volumes about the relationship between the two judges.
