Coupe de France féminine draw US Vandoeuvre, Digi Mart USA News: Making their first appearance at this national first round, the women of Vandoeuvre avoided a major opponent, a possibility that briefly seemed real during Wednesday’s draw held shortly after noon at the federation headquarters.
The task of drawing the balls fell to former international Inès Jaurena, who kept the Lorraine club’s ball for last. A match against FC Metz, a Seconde Ligue side making its entry in this round, was a possibility, but the former Fleury player ultimately placed the other Division 2 club, Thonon Evian, against the Messines.
Vandoeuvre then had to wait until the end of the draw to learn its opponent: FC Illhaeusern, the only district-level side still in the competition within USV’s group. Coach Franck Lahalle’s players can believe in their chances when the match is played on November 21 or 22 in Alsace.
If they qualify, they would face the winner of the Saint-Vit–Thionville match.
