Chaumont VB 52 Haute-Marne wins Coupe de France first-round match in Paris, Digi Mart USA News (Paris, France): Chaumont VB 52 Haute-Marne secured its place in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France on Tuesday, November 3, after a 3-1 victory over Paris, according to a report from JHM. The club has continued a busy run of matches this season, sometimes stumbling but not falling.

Chaumont won the first set 22-25 and the second 13-25 before struggling to close out the match. Paris, which was missing four of its main starters, lifted its level and forced a fifth set before Chaumont took the final two sets 25-19 and 21-25 to finish the match 3-1.

Chaumont general manager Jiri Cerha said the team is young and still adjusting, with about 90% of the roster new this season. He said the side can be dominant when things go well but takes time to find solutions when they do not.

Individual performances reflected that inconsistency. Veikka Lindqvist was noted for needing more offensive confidence, while Jacob Pasteur was singled out for reducing his error rate.

Shay Liberman needed nearly two sets to find his rhythm, and Hiago Crins was described as needing greater attacking efficiency. Ruslan Chervatiuk was named the match’s standout player, with seven attacks won from nine attempts and six blocks.

Substitutes Thomas Helfer, Joao Franck and Eliott Brunet were credited with turning the match late in the fourth set. Coach Marcelo Fronckowiak said he was not fully satisfied with the quality of play but welcomed the result, especially in a knockout competition.

Chaumont now has five wins across all competitions and next plays at Nice, the report said.
