Air France-KLM job cuts and wage freeze, Digi Mart USA News: Air France-KLM announced several cost-saving measures on Thursday, November 5, including the elimination of 5,000 jobs. The decision comes as the Franco-Dutch airline reported a third-quarter net profit of 938 million euros, up 22%.

Despite the net profit increase of 22% this summer, Air France-KLM announced several measures aimed at achieving an annual gain of one billion euros by 2028. The airline said the savings plan is designed to meet that target.

In the Netherlands, KLM management said it intends to cut 5,000 jobs. The measure targets nearly 15% of the entire workforce of the group’s Dutch division, relying in part on voluntary departures, transfers to Air France-KLM, and not replacing employees who retire.

The KLM division, which includes KLM and Transavia Netherlands, has already eliminated a number of jobs in recent years and also plans to outsource certain activities. Air France-KLM management also aims to freeze wages as much as possible, promising a revision of collective agreements with a “strict control of changes in the payroll.”

Even so, the airline recorded a third-quarter net profit of 938 million euros. Revenue rose 8% over the past three months to 9.916 billion euros compared with the same period in 2025.

Over the first nine months of the year, revenue is reported to have declined by 877 million euros due to current fuel prices.

The announcement pushed shares of Air France-KLM up 10% on the Paris stock exchange on Thursday.
