instant pension facility, USA News (Hyderabad): The state government has extended the instant pension facility to additional categories of social security pension beneficiaries, enabling the wives of deceased pensioners to receive pensions without delay. Women development and panchayat raj minister Seethakka announced that the administration issued orders broadening the scheme, which previously applied solely to the wives of deceased old-age pension beneficiaries.
Under the expanded framework, the facility now includes persons with disabilities, toddy tappers, handloom weavers, and families of individuals suffering from dialysis-dependent conditions, HIV, and filariasis. The department has released formal guidelines to govern the implementation of this broader rollout.
Application Guidelines and Eligibility
Under the new provisions, if the wife of a deceased male pensioner is below the age of 57, she will be sanctioned a widow pension. If she is 57 years of age or older, she will be eligible for an old-age pension instead.
To access the facility, applicants are required to submit specific documentation:
- Aadhaar card of the applicant
- First page of the bank passbook
- Deceased pensioner’s Aadhaar card
- Death certificate of the deceased pensioner
Applications must be submitted to the panchayat secretary in rural areas and to the bill collector in urban areas. Following document verification, relevant officials will enter the details into the Cheyutha portal. The pension will be officially sanctioned once the applicant’s eligibility is confirmed. According to the government, the decision was taken to ensure that women who lose their husbands avoid financial hardships and that continuous social security assistance is maintained for dependent families.
