Arsenal 1-0 Hull City Premier League match report, Digi Mart USA News (Emirates Stadium, London): Martin Odegaard’s goal clinched a 1-0 win over Hull City, sending Arsenal six points clear at the top of the Premier League table. Hull defended resolutely for more than an hour, but the pressure told when Odegaard reacted quickest to convert a rebound after Konstantinos Tzolakis saved from Noni Madueke.
Arsenal struggled to create clear openings for much of the contest and lacked cutting edge in the first half. Kai Havertz wasted a one-on-one chance, and Christos Tzolis spurned further opportunities.
The hosts were also controversially denied a penalty after a VAR check ruled Havertz offside when his shirt was pulled by Nobel Mendy near the end of the first half.
Hull were difficult to break down and came close to an opener when Elliot Stroud forced a fine save from David Raya at full stretch. Arsenal stepped up the intensity after the break and eventually made the decisive breakthrough.
Odegaard’s goal was his first since a run of four goals in five games between August and September.
The result extends Arsenal’s lead over Manchester City, whose manager Enzo Maresca’s side face Nottingham Forest next.
