Trump names Stephen Miller White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles departs, Digi Mart USA News: The White House is bracing for a major shake-up following President Donald Trump’s midterm election losses, with chief of staff Susie Wiles leaving the administration and making way for her deputy, Stephen Miller.

Trump announced Friday that Miller would take over from Wiles on Monday, November 9, and that Wiles would move to the president’s political operation. In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Miller as “one of my most trusted advisors” and thanked Wiles for her service, saying she “has done a great job.”

Wiles is the latest woman to leave the administration. She follows press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who left in August, and former officials including Attorney General Pam Bondi, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

In a post on X, Wiles said that “serving President Trump in the White House has been the honor of a lifetime.” She cited the administration’s work on border security, tax cuts, the economy and “putting America First,” and said she was grateful for the people she had worked alongside.

The elevation of Miller is likely to prove deeply controversial because of his central role in shaping Trump’s mass deportation agenda and several of the administration’s most divisive immigration policies.

Sources say Trump reacted angrily to the midterm results, in which Democrats regained control of both the House and the Senate and flipped longstanding Republican strongholds including Texas, Kansas and South Carolina. It is understood that Wiles, who has worked with the president for years, offered her resignation in response.
