Mexico government decree to have Talleres Gráficos de México produce electoral materials for 2027 elections, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): State cabinet coordinator José Luis García Parra said President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo will present a decree next week to strengthen the public production of electoral materials and guarantee transparency in procurement ahead of the 2027 elections.

García Parra said one of the president’s priorities is ensuring the next electoral process proceeds with transparency, objectivity and impartiality. The proposal would have the Mexican state produce most of the ballots and electoral materials itself.

The plan includes strengthening Talleres Gráficos de México by renewing its equipment and infrastructure. The aim is to reduce the hiring of intermediary companies and avoid possible irregularities in the purchase of these supplies.

The proposal also foresees expanding the council that oversees this work. It would include the Auditoría Superior de la Federación (ASF) as an observer, along with specialists and academic representatives from the UNAM, the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) and the Tecnológico de Monterrey.

García Parra said the intention is to establish clear rules for contracting, review costs and guarantee that the Organismos Públicos Locales Electorales (OPLE) carry out their acquisitions under transparency criteria. He said the measures seek to prevent a repeat of possible irregularities in electoral material procurement and to strengthen oversight of resources allocated to electoral processes.
