Bomb threats on flights over France, Digi Mart USA News: Four new bomb threats were issued Friday, November 6, against airplanes flying over French territory, according to an announcement from Matignon, the office of the French prime minister. All four aircraft landed “without incident,” and bomb disposal teams are carrying out security inspections on the planes.
Matignon said an investigation is underway to determine the origin of the alerts, which affect all of Europe. The prime minister’s services are responsible for the country’s aviation security and air defense.
According to a source familiar with the matter, three of the aircraft landed at Orly Airport near Paris, and the fourth landed in Bordeaux.
Similar alerts have been issued on several flights across Europe since the beginning of the week. Most of the affected flights were operated by low-cost airlines.
Claims linked to some of the threats, sent to the airports of Rome and Sofia, came from “fighters of the male state.” That name appears to refer to a Russian ultranationalist movement, but the publisher report notes that it was not possible to verify this connection.
