Witnesses alerted officers around 9:50 p.m. to Sterndamm after hearing gunshots.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery.

Police said he is not believed to be in danger of his life.

The perpetrator or perpetrators reportedly fled in a vehicle toward Michael-Brückner-Straße. The criminal police have taken over the investigation at the scene.

The report places the incident within a broader rise in firearm violence in Berlin. A man was shot several times in the upper body in Wedding on Wednesday.

On Sunday, shots were reportedly fired at a restaurant in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and a residential building in Steglitz-Zehlendorf; no one was injured in either case.
