Lars de Blok VVV-Venlo performance, Digi Mart USA News: 22-year-old Lars de Blok is enjoying an impressive season for VVV-Venlo in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. In the first eleven matches of the campaign, he has produced nine assists and scored twice.
Hans Kraay Jr. recently praised De Blok on ESPN’s talk show, drawing a laugh from the defender.
“That is really a good player,” Kraay said. “I don’t want to put Marinus Dijkhuizen in a bad light, but Eredivisie clubs should come and make something of that.”
De Blok said he was delighted by the comments. “That Hans says things like that, that he has kind words for me, is nice to hear.”
De Blok joined VVV-Venlo last season from Feyenoord, where he played for the Under-21 side. He described himself as an attacking full-back.
“I really love attacking. We also score easily, so that makes it easier to get assists.
I haven’t really set a goal for myself, but if I could get fifteen, that would be very nice.”
VVV currently sits second in the division. De Blok said he would have been surprised had he been told this in advance.
“But after the matches we have played, certainly not. Expectations for the rest of the season are high.
The games we win are deserved, and the ones we lose often leave us feeling there was more in it. That just gives a lot of positive energy.”
De Blok’s contract expires this summer. “I’m really happy here and don’t really feel the need to leave.
If something very good comes up, maybe. But I’m honestly not focused on that,” the young full-back said.
