State Tourism Secretary Mauricio González López led the start of operations and said the route expands air connectivity and creates opportunities for commercial, tourism and business exchange with northern Mexico. On the inaugural day, the airport received 70 passengers from Monterrey and recorded 170 departures to that city.
Petros Davutakis Arellano, director of the Aguascalientes International Airport, said collaboration with Viva Aerobus will continue to promote the route. Daniel Morales, communications representative for Viva Aerobus, said passengers from Aguascalientes can connect through Felipe Ángeles International Airport to more than 30 additional destinations.
As a welcome, dance companies and the Grupo de Industriales Panaderos de Aguascalientes (Gipan) promoted the 2026 Festival Cultural de Calaveras, featuring traditions and gastronomy.
