The Taste TV cooking competition new elimination rules, Digi Mart USA News: Starting with the third episode of the 15th season of the German cooking show The Taste, stricter rules now apply. The decision cook-off has been eliminated, and the solo cooking round has become the decisive stage, according to the publisher’s report.
Host Angelina Kirsch announced the changes at the start of the episode. Contestants who earn the fewest favorable marks from the blind-tasting jury and end up with the most red stars must leave the show immediately.
There is no second chance.
Contestants can only be saved by collecting at least one gold star during the broadcast. The new rules also state that gold outranks red, meaning a cook can still advance even with several red stars.
Contestants reacted with shock to the announcement. Team member Irfan, a professional chef on Elif Oskan’s team, said: “The solo cooking is now the new decision cook-off.
That’s just brutal.”
The rule change immediately created a difficult situation for contestant Calvin of the green team. After receiving a red star from coach Steffen Henssler during the team round, he entered the solo cooking already in a precarious position, needing a gold star to survive.
During the solo round, Calvin failed to earn a gold star and was eliminated because of a single red star. Fellow contestant Bernd received four red stars for his mediocre Smörgåstårta in the same round, but one gold star saved him from elimination.
