Gary Anderson Players Championship Finals qualification, Digi Mart USA News: Gary Anderson has moved into the provisional Players Championship Finals field, with Thursday’s last qualifying event set to decide who reaches Minehead.

The Scot’s run to the semi-finals of Players Championship 33 improved his position before the season’s final floor tournament in Leicester.

The top 64 players on the annual Players Championship Order of Merit qualify for the Finals, which take place from 27 to 29 November. Anderson’s progress on Wednesday took him into the qualifying positions, as reported by Sky Sports.

However, a provisional place is not a confirmed invitation. Thursday’s results can still change the order before the field is settled.

Luke Humphries won Wednesday’s title by beating Niels Zonneveld in the final.

Henry Coates occupies the final qualifying position heading into Players Championship 34, according to Live Darts’ qualification table. Coates and Mike De Decker are level on £33,250, just £250 ahead of Wesley Plaisier.

Those small gaps leave the final places vulnerable to change during Thursday’s competition.

Josh Rock also has work to do, starting the day £7,250 outside the top 64. Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld are among the other notable names facing a qualification battle.

Qualification is based on prize money earned in the Players Championship series, rather than a player’s position in the overall world rankings. Wessel Nijman is already assured of the top seeding after winning six Players Championship titles this season.

The remaining places will be settled after Thursday’s event. The PDPA calendar lists the Grand Slam qualifier in Leicester on Friday, following the conclusion of the floor season.
