Mexico-Puebla highway truck driver robbery and rescue, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico-Puebla highway, near the Chalco toll booth): A truck driver was found tied hand and foot along the Mexico-Puebla highway after criminals stole his truck and abandoned him on the roadside. The rescue took place on the morning of Thursday, November 5, 2026, at about 6:36 a.m., near the Chalco toll booth.

Another carrier traveling through the area stopped to help and used a knife to cut the ties that kept the driver immobilized. The victim was identified as Juan Gabriel Gómez Hernández, an employee of Transportes Guzmán.

He said that a day earlier his cargo unit had been stolen and he was then left by the road.

A video of the moment, shared on social media by the trucking community Thermokineros, shows the operator seated beside the highway with his hands and feet fastened with zip ties while he waited for help. The driver who found him approached to ask what had happened and cut the restraints after learning his situation.

During the assistance, the carrier expressed frustration that other motorists had passed the spot without stopping to help the man. The rescuer said in the video that the truck had been taken the day before and that people did not stop to help.

The source does not say how long the driver remained abandoned at that location, and no information has been reported about his health after the rescue.

Armed theft of cargo trucks remains a constant concern for the transport sector, which has asked for greater surveillance and a stronger presence of security forces. On November 3, the Government of Puebla announced agreements with representatives of the Mexican Alliance of Transport Organizations (Amotac) to strengthen highway security through patrols and coordination among authorities at all three levels of government.
