COPARMEX National Meeting 2026 in León, Guanajuato, Digi Mart USA News (León, Guanajuato, Mexico): Representatives of 68 business centers, 14 federations and 19 work commissions from across Mexico gathered in the city of León for the National Meeting of the Confederación Patronal de la República Mexicana (COPARMEX). The meeting discussed the national agenda on economic development, security and legal certainty.

During the opening ceremony, Guanajuato Governor Libia Dennise García reaffirmed the state administration’s support for the productive sector. She stressed the need to strengthen alliances between government and the private sector to maintain favorable conditions for attracting capital.

In her remarks, the governor said that in the first two years of the state administration, 6,834 million dollars in foreign direct investment had been attracted. That figure corresponds to 85% of the six-year target, with a commitment to generate 21,681 jobs.

She also stated that Guanajuato ranks as the country’s fifth-largest economy, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 82.9 billion dollars. Exports reached 37,988 million dollars, and the state leads the automotive industry with annual production of 861,000 vehicles.

On security, which the governor described as one of the main challenges to economic growth, she highlighted a 72% decrease in intentional homicides in Guanajuato and a 28% drop in highway robberies in the state.

León Mayor Alejandra Gutiérrez Campos highlighted the municipality’s contribution to the state economy. She reported that the city has more than 428,800 workers insured with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), equivalent to 38% of accumulated formal employment in Guanajuato.

Gutiérrez Campos added that since 2024, León has committed investments of 549 million dollars, with a projection of about 12,500 jobs.

COPARMEX National President Juan José Sierra Álvarez emphasized that consolidating the opportunities from business relocation, known as nearshoring, requires four fundamental conditions: physical security, legal certainty, sufficient energy and water availability.

The business meeting includes participation from judicial, legislative and business organizations in the region, including representatives of COPARMEX Zona Metropolitana de León, where 400 companies from six municipalities in the south-central area of Guanajuato take part.
