Damian Penaud and Nicolas Depoortere released by France rugby squad, Digi Mart USA News: Winger Damian Penaud and centre Nicolas Depoortere were not named among the 23 players set to face Fiji on Saturday evening in Lyon, and were also not included among the five reserves on the bench.

Both players are among fourteen squad members returned to their clubs. They will therefore be available for the ninth round of the Top 14 and the away trip to face Vannes at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.

The decision follows the usual pattern for the France squad, in which the group of 23 players is regularly adjusted according to tactical needs and current form.

The two internationals were released before the trip to Lyon and will rejoin their clubs to fulfil their Top 14 commitments, including the ninth round preceding the match against Vannes in Nantes.

According to the report, the rotation allows coaches to preserve the freshness of senior players while giving starters the chance to rest before upcoming international tests.
