Leticia Ramírez servidores de la nación chalecos guinda, Digi Mart USA News: Mexico’s Secretary of Welfare, Leticia Ramírez Amaya, said that if electoral authorities prohibit public servants from wearing red vests, the ministry will comply with any such resolution. She clarified that for now the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Branch (TEPJF) has only ordered the National Electoral Institute (INE) to review the use of red caps, shirts and vests as part of the government’s graphic identity.
Ramírez said the ministry’s official vest is beige and that the uniform is part of the graphic identity of the Mexican government, which public servants are required to follow under a manual dating from 2018 and modified in 2024. She added that the ministry is working on the issue and will comply with resolutions when they are issued.
The remarks came during an appearance before Senate committees as part of the review of the president’s second annual report. Senator Ángel García Yáñez of the PRI questioned the possible electoral use of the red color and of social programs to favor the governing party, warning that the colors could create an advantage for Morena ahead of 2027.
Higinio Martínez, president of the Senate’s Mesa Directiva and a Morena legislator, rejected the claim that the red color favors Morena electorally, calling such a view an excess. He argued that wearing red vests does not in itself constitute electoral promotion or political identification, and that people should be free to wear clothing of different colors, except those performing public security or other functions requiring institutional uniforms.
The Electoral Tribunal determined that the INE did not properly analyze the evidence in the complaint filed by the party Somos. The tribunal ordered the INE to issue a new resolution that fully examines the party’s arguments, including the precautionary measures it requested.
Somos argues that the clothing could associate federally funded social programs with Morena’s political identity, which it says would create an improper advantage in upcoming elections.
