María Alicia Delgado funeral, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico City): The death of beloved actress María Alicia Delgado was confirmed on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 4, according to El Heraldo de México. She died at age 77 from an aggressive pancreatic cancer that, according to the report, spread to several organs after she did not undergo treatment.

Known for her roles in comedy programs such as “Derbez en Cuando,” “Anabel” and “¿Tu crees?” and many others, Delgado was remembered by friends, relatives, colleagues and members of the press who gathered at a well-known funeral home in Mexico City to say their final goodbyes.

According to the report, white flowers and a distinctive photograph of the actress were placed on her wooden casket. Friends and colleagues from the production of “¿Tu crees?” formed an honor guard.

Producer Pedro Ortíz de Pinedo, Tadeo Bonavides, Ingrid Martz, Ricardo Margaleff and Daniela Luján stood around the casket. While their conversations could not be heard, the report says that, amid the sadness, several were smiling as they looked at a photograph of Delgado making an obscene hand gesture.

In an interview with TVNotas, Daniela Luján recalled Delgado as a great colleague with excellent comedic timing, and said the late actress often spoke with a lot of profanity. Ricardo Margaleff said some of Delgado’s colleagues already knew about her illness but were still struggling to accept the news, which he described as very sudden.

“Today we lose a great comedic actress and I lose a great friend,” he said.

Reporters at the funeral also spoke with Yodi Marcos, former wife of actor Carlos Bonavides and one of Delgado’s close friends. Marcos said the illness was discovered when Delgado was taken to a doctor after experiencing pain, by which point the pancreatic cancer was already advanced.

She said Delgado had not wanted to undergo chemotherapy or any other treatment, and that the cancer had spread to the liver, kidney and a large part of the stomach. Marcos said this occurred over a period of about three weeks.
