Yétili season 7 celebrates 10th anniversary on France 5, Digi Mart USA News: The best-known yeti in France is marking its tenth anniversary. Starting November 20 on the Okoo platform, and from Sunday, November 23 at 9:10 a.m.
on France 5, “Yétili” returns with a seventh season and 39 new stories read aloud to children.
Since 2016, “Yétili” has accompanied young and old in shared reading. The premise is simple: each day, two little mice, Nina and Léon, meet Yétili, the mascot of a neighborhood bookshop.
When the curtain falls, the plush toy comes to life and carries its young friends into a children’s picture book.
Over ten years, the series has read more than 300 books on screen and has become one of Okoo’s cult programs. Okoo is the children’s offering of France Télévisions.
“The screen that inspires time away from screens” sums up the program’s ambition: using television and the platform to send children back to paper books. Each episode presents a genuine heritage children’s book, then invites families to continue the discovery, page after page.
For its tenth anniversary, Yétili’s ideal library is expanding with longer stories and new sign language translations to broaden its audience. The first twenty new stories posted on Okoo draw on a demanding, well-regarded repertoire from major children’s publishers, including Claude Ponti’s Pétronille et ses 120 petits, Jean-Luc Fromental and Joëlle Jolivet’s 365 pingouins, Anaïs Vaugelade’s Une soupe au caillou, Arnold Lobel’s Hulul, and Yvan Pommaux’s Le Grand Sommeil, an investigation by John Chatterton.
Ten years, six seasons and more than 300 stories: Yétili has become a book ambassador for the youngest readers. The character’s reach extends well beyond the television screen.
Since its first public appearance at the Paris Book Fair in 2017, Yétili has regularly visited bookshops, libraries, schools, hospitals and festivals.
Created by Séverine Gégauff-Lebrun and produced by Darjeeling and Moving Puppet studios with the participation of France Télévisions, the series relies on puppetry and a carefully crafted artistic direction aimed at children aged 3 to 7. Season 7 offers 39 new episodes with longer running times, to accompany readers who are growing up.
Behind the program’s apparent gentleness lies real craftsmanship. The original soundtrack and theme were entrusted to composers tied to the character’s world, and the voice cast includes actors familiar with children’s animation, among them Michel Elias, who voices the yeti.
Each selected album is adapted with care to respect the original text and illustrations, so that children find exactly the same book in their hands afterward.
For the anniversary, the team also expanded the series’ accessibility: several episodes are now offered in French Sign Language so that deaf and hard-of-hearing children can share the pleasure of the stories as well.
The context: backed by France Télévisions, the Okoo offering focuses on ad-free content suited to children’s ages. Within this ecosystem, Yétili holds a distinct place; its stated goal is not to capture attention on screen but to make children want to open a book.
