The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026 Quintonil Mexico ranking, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico City, Mexico): The 2026 edition of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has been released, and Quintonil once again represented Mexico at the top of the rankings.

Quintonil, owned by chef Jorge Vallejo, placed fourth in the overall ranking. With its two Michelin stars, the restaurant remains a global reference point for Mexican gastronomy.

The restaurant, located at Newton 55 in the Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City, ranks just below Asador Etxebarri in Atxondo, Spain; Gaggan in Bangkok, Thailand; and Alchemist in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Quintonil is the only Mexican restaurant included in the Top 50. In the extended Top 100, Alcalde ranked 55th and is located in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

Huniik, in Mérida, Yucatán, placed 79th, Arca, in Tulum, Quintana Roo, took 87th, Rosetta from Mexico City placed 96th, and Fauna in the Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, ranked 99th.

Pujol, one of the most recognized Mexican restaurants of recent years, was the notable absence from this edition. Founded by chef Enrique Olvera, Pujol ranked 33rd in 2024, fell to 60th in 2025, and did not appear in the Top 100 this year.

The awards ceremony was held for the first time in South America, at the Teatro Municipal in Lima, Peru. Last year’s list was topped by Maido, a Lima restaurant led by Mitsuharu “Micha” Tsumura that blends Peruvian and Japanese cuisine.

Maido was the second Peruvian restaurant to receive the honor, after Central won in 2023.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list has been published annually since 2002, based on votes from more than 1,000 experts, including chefs, specialized journalists and restaurant owners.
