Estado de México fiscal package and Paco Vázquez reelection bid, Digi Mart USA News (Toluca, Estado de México): José Francisco Vázquez Rodríguez, president of the Junta de Coordinación Política (JUCOPO) of the LXII Legislature of the State of Mexico, said he will seek reelection in the next electoral process if conditions within his party allow it. He stressed that he has the full backing of Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez, describing himself as the “number one” on the team.
Speaking with reporters at the legislative headquarters, the Morena bloc leader addressed speculation about his political aspirations and his relationship with the state governor, with whom he has worked for more than 14 years, dating to when he was her office chief at the Texcoco city government.
“I have the support; I am number one on the list. It would not make sense for me not to have the governor’s support,” Vázquez Rodríguez said.
He added that he will wait for the timing and terms of the internal call before formalizing his registration for a local deputy seat.
Asked about comments by Texcoco Mayor Nazario Gutiérrez Martínez, who questioned the lawmaker’s influence and standing in the area, Vázquez Rodríguez downplayed any friction or rift within Morena. “I have known my colleague Nazario for 25 years.
I recognize his work… I know him well and I recognize him. Being from Texcoco makes me recognize him.
What is being discussed is an electoral matter; there will be no fight or anything of the sort, it is simply a matter of timing,” he said.
On the legislative front, the deputy said the fiscal package proposal is expected to be formally received between November 19 and 20, within the legally established deadline. Vázquez Rodríguez guaranteed that, at the governor’s instruction and under an agreement with the state Congress, the economic plan will not include new taxes or increases to existing ones, and will rule out taking on new public debt.
He explained that budget priorities will focus on strengthening social programs, public infrastructure, and the consolidation of health services focused on women, through a strategy coordinated with federal government health institutions.
