Claude Sérillon, Digi Mart USA News (France): Former French television star Claude Sérillon, 76, has made a rare appearance for a major occasion. In the 1980s and 1990s he was a leading figure on French screens, and he is one of the few journalists to have presented the 8 p.m.
news on both France 2 and TF1 during his career.
Sérillon, the partner of Catherine Ceylac, is no longer regularly seen on television sets. However, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, he appeared in a story posted on Instagram by Sophie Davant.
He attended the launch party for the 40th edition of the Téléthon, held Tuesday, November 3, alongside Nagui and Davant.
The appearance was symbolic for Sérillon, who co-hosted the Téléthon for ten years. He was present at the first edition on December 4, 1987, broadcast live on Antenne 2 from Radio France studios.
Over 48 non-stop hours he hosted the show with Michel Drucker, Gérard Holtz and Jacques Chancel, alongside godfather Jerry Lewis.
“For 40 years, the Téléthon has advanced research and given hope to so many families,” Davant wrote on her Instagram account. She will present this new edition on December 4 and 5 on France 2 with Nagui, Cyril Féraud and this year’s godfather, Patrick Fiori.
One of Sérillon’s most recent public appearances came on July 24, 2026, at the funeral of Françoise Coquet, who died on July 20 at age 83 from Lewy body disease. The former producer was buried at Montmartre Cemetery in Paris.
Sérillon attended alongside many other familiar television figures to pay tribute to a woman he had known for a long time.
Sérillon and Coquet had worked together on the programme Vivement dimanche, where he contributed a literary column under her production. He had worked with her until 2012, before joining the communications team of François Hollande.
