The release was presented at the Palacio Postal in Mexico City, where a monumental ofrenda was installed in the Patio de Carteros.

Sectur Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora and Postal Service Director General Violeta Abreu González led the presentation. Rodríguez Zamora said the Day of the Dead has become an important cultural expression and a tourism opportunity, offering visitors experiences involving traditions, gastronomy and the diversity of the country’s communities.

Rodríguez Zamora stated that the celebration generates benefits throughout the tourism and productive chain, from agriculture, including the production of flowers and fruit, to gastronomy, handicrafts, transportation and lodging services.

Abreu González emphasized the value of collaboration between the two institutions in using philately to bring one of Mexico’s most emblematic celebrations to new audiences. She described the holiday as one of the deepest expressions of national identity, citing sugar skulls, cempasúchil marigolds, and pan de muerto served with hot chocolate.

The stamps incorporate representative elements of the celebration, including cempasúchil flowers, candles, skulls, pan de muerto and Mexican cuisine. Their design combines photography, illustration and digital composition.

Each stamp has a face value of 11.50 Mexican pesos.

The stamps will be available at the Palacio Postal store, more than 1,500 post offices nationwide, and the online store CorreosClic. Abreu González said the stamps will circulate throughout Mexico and abroad, reaching the 191 member countries of the Universal Postal Union.

Morelos Tourism Secretary Daniel Altafi Valladares attended the ceremony.
