The incident occurred shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, when residents of the area reported to authorities the presence of an unconscious person lying on the road.

Although medical staff confirmed his injuries are not life-threatening, authorities warned of the danger of remaining on the public road in a vulnerable state and amid the low temperatures recorded in the area. At the hospital, he was given a phone so he could contact relatives in Pedriceña.
