Hauts-de-France high schools targeted by the state, Digi Mart USA News (Hauts-de-France, France): The Hauts-de-France regional council is contesting the method used by the government, which identified 200 high schools across France requiring “particular attention,” including 19 in the region.
According to the regional council, the list was drawn up from reports made by high school students and does not necessarily match the assessments carried out by the regional authority itself.
Laurent Rigaud, the vice-president in charge of education, noted that 55 million euros have been invested since 2018 in the 19 high schools concerned. He said all 270 regional high schools benefit from renovation work each year.
For 2026, the region plans 100 million euros for heating systems, 10 million euros for security and 3 million euros for sanitary facilities.
