Beau Geste 100th Episode on France 2 with Leïla Bekhti, Digi Mart USA News: Beau Geste, a film magazine beloved by cinema lovers, is marking its 100th episode. On Sunday, November 22 at 10:45 p.m.
on France 2 and on france.tv, the program hosted by Pierre Lescure is celebrating the anniversary by welcoming actress Leïla Bekhti, one of the most prominent performers of her generation.
Since its launch in January 2023, Beau Geste has established itself as one of the rare late-evening magazines on public broadcasting devoted entirely to cinema. Its approach is to take time, with long-form interviews, behind-the-scenes looks at film shoots, and profiles of behind-the-scenes professions, from cinematographers to script supervisors and editors.
The program received the Laurier de l’audiovisuel for best magazine in 2024.
Over five seasons, the show has featured more than 200 encounters and more than 400 reports, drawn from hundreds of sets, festivals and premieres. Pierre Lescure, who now shares the broadcast with France Inter voice Rebecca Manzoni, has hosted major figures of world cinema, including Catherine Deneuve, Francis Ford Coppola, Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Harrison Ford and Jane Fonda, alongside rising French talents such as Pierre Niney and Adèle Exarchopoulos.
For the 100th episode, Beau Geste chose Leïla Bekhti, whose career reflects recent French film history. She was introduced to wider audiences by Sheitan in 2005 and became prominent with Jacques Audiard’s Un prophète, a prison drama that won nine César Awards.
A few months later she won the César for Most Promising Actress for the comedy Tout ce qui brille. Since then she has moved between auteur cinema and popular films, including La Source des femmes by Radu Mihaileanu and Le Grand Bain by Gilles Lellouche.
The interview is expected to be personal and candid, tracing a career that, over twenty years, turned a performer discovered during an improvised casting into a major actress. The episode also features an exclusive interview with Bekhti, a retrospective of five seasons of encounters and reports, and original music by Benjamin Biolay.
The program is presented by Pierre Lescure, alternating with Rebecca Manzoni.
