FGR destroys chemical substances in Mexico State, Digi Mart USA News (Tenango del Valle, Mexico State): The Mexican Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalía General de la República, FGR) carried out the incineration and final disposal of significant quantities of chemical substances seized and linked to federal criminal investigations, as part of efforts to eliminate materials considered harmful to health.
Through the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office (FECOR) in Mexico State, the institution destroyed 739 kilograms and 928 grams and 5 milligrams of potassium cyanide, as well as 2,140.909 liters of hydrochloric acid. According to official information, both materials were related to two investigation files and were subjected to the corresponding incineration and final disposal procedure.
The operation took place in the municipality of Tenango del Valle, Mexico State, under the supervision of personnel from the Internal Control Body (Órgano Interno de Control, OIC), which was responsible for verifying the count, weighing and identification of the substances before their destruction. Personnel from the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) and official experts from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) also took part in the handling related to the final disposal of the materials.
The FGR said these actions are part of institutional procedures to ensure the management and elimination of narcotics, chemical precursors and substances harmful to health held by authorities as a result of federal investigations. Destroying the materials prevents them from remaining in storage once their final disposal is determined under legal procedures.
However, the institution did not specify the particular crimes under investigation in the two files, nor the circumstances under which the chemical substances were seized. The Prosecutor’s Office reiterated that it will continue carrying out this type of procedure under institutional supervision and with the participation of specialized personnel, to ensure the destruction of materials is conducted in accordance with applicable regulations.
