Trina Solar France Systems hybrid solar park Lescheroux, Digi Mart USA News (Lescheroux, Ain, France): At the start of autumn, the commune of Lescheroux in the Ain department inaugurated a photovoltaic park that combines ground-mounted solar production with floating installations, a first of its scale in the department.
The park is built on a former 31-hectare gravel pit, illustrating the successful conversion of an industrial site into renewable energy infrastructure. The project was developed by Trina Solar France Systems in partnership with the commune of Lescheroux and the regional fund OSER ENR.
The installation uses nearly 20,000 bifacial photovoltaic panels spread across land areas and the water body. The plant is expected to produce about 16,500 MWh of electricity per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly 7,000 inhabitants.
A Model Conversion Built on Collective Effort
By using a former extraction zone rather than agricultural land, the project demonstrates the potential of brownfield industrial sites to support renewable energy development. Among the first hybrid projects in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region to combine floating and ground-mounted solar, it reflects new solutions adapted to local constraints.
