Paris 5 km Vincennes “Viens battre ton RP” event by French Athletics Federation, Digi Mart USA News (Paris, France): Runners are invited to a morning event on Saturday, December 19, in the paths of the Bois de Vincennes, south of the French capital, to beat their personal best over 5 km as part of an innovative format.
The best French runners will compete in the French Athletics Championships that same day, starting in the mid-afternoon on the Raymond-Poulidor cycling ring, better known as the Vincennes polygon. Before that, the French Athletics Federation (FFA) is offering runners of any level the chance to line up over the same distance on the same very fast course, between 9 a.m.
and noon, as part of the “Viens battre ton RP” operation. Registration is free.
To help participants approach their 5 km in the best possible conditions, Federation coaches will be on hand to accompany them during warm-up and offer practical advice on pacing their effort. The main novelty is that there will be no mass start: runners can set off whenever they choose, using a timing chip provided by the Federation.
Level-based groups will also be formed as the event progresses, so those who wish can pace themselves to chase their best possible performance.
Participants will see their new reference time immediately upon finishing and can compare it with all other participants on MyDataRun, the new digital platform created by the FFA for licensed athletes and competitive runners.
