Cyril Hanouna complaint over attack on journalist, Digi Mart USA News (France): Cyril Hanouna is the subject of a complaint after a live on-air attack on a journalist, according to a report published by Actu.fr. The controversy began after an article by Maxime Fettweis, a journalist at the daily Ouest-France, which belongs to the same group as Actu.fr.
The article, published on October 20, examined the October 19 broadcast of Tout beau, tout neuf, which was largely devoted to weekend events. The journalist noted that when Hanouna joined the network, the M6 group had committed to refocusing its programs on entertainment only.
Hanouna responded on the air, first criticizing the channel Novo 19 as a competitor and saying the article would be read by no one. He then turned to the journalist’s professional background, referring to his previous publications and past work, including for the Quotidien newsletter, and suggesting the journalist intended to harm his image.
Ouest-France publisher François-Xavier Lefranc responded that while criticism is legitimate, the newspaper would never accept intimidation and would defend the honor and integrity of its journalists. He also cited abusive and insulting messages the journalist received after the broadcast.
On October 29, 2026, the Ligue de défense des valeurs républicaines (LDVR), which says it brings together 13 federations across France, filed a complaint against Hanouna with the Paris prosecutor’s office. According to a 38-page document reviewed by Actu.fr, the complaint cites charges of moral harassment by instigation, complicity in moral harassment, public defamation and public insult.
The LDVR argues that Hanouna personally targeted the journalist, with ironic remarks meant to ridicule him and his professional environment. It also questions why the presenter mentioned the journalist’s family on air, since they were not involved in the publication.
The organization asks for a police custody measure for the host while reaffirming the presumption of innocence. As of the report, the Paris prosecutor’s office had not yet made a decision on the case.
