Andrea Kimi Antonelli Mexico City Grand Prix 2026 world championship, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico City): The 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix was, in the words of publisher columnist Mario Domínguez, far more than a race: a celebration of motorsport held at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, which he described as the country’s cathedral of motor sport.

The central figure was Italian Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli. At 20 years, two months and seven days old, he became the youngest Formula 1 world champion in history, surpassing the record previously held by Sebastian Vettel.

His third-place finish secured the title with four races still remaining.

Max Verstappen won the race after starting fifth, seizing the lead and holding it. Lewis Hamilton, who took pole position for Ferrari, finished second, less than a second behind the Dutch driver, keeping the pressure on until the end.

Antonelli completed the podium.

The race also featured several disruptions. Charles Leclerc received a penalty for gaining an advantage off track, which altered the battle for the lead.

A heavy crash involving Valtteri Bottas, caused by a suspension failure on his Cadillac, forced a red-flag stoppage. After the restart, Antonelli passed Leclerc to take the position from which he would celebrate his title.

The column also highlighted the return of Sergio Pérez to Cadillac. Although the team does not yet have a competitive car and Pérez finished outside the points, the author said it was wonderful to see him race at home again, representing perseverance and the continued support of Mexican fans.

The author praised the Mexican crowd, whose enthusiasm turned the grandstands into a festival and showed that passion does not depend on winning. He concluded that the event combined a spectacular race, a historic coronation and pride in seeing Mexico experience Formula 1 with full enthusiasm.
