Mexico weather forecast for November 5, 2026: cold front and trough bring heavy rain, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Weather conditions in Mexico will be highly contrasting this Thursday, November 5, 2026. While five states face heavy rain, the northern mountain areas will record sub-zero temperatures and other regions will remain hot, with maximum temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius.

According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the fourth cold front, an upper-level atmospheric trough, low-pressure channels and moisture from both coasts will determine the weather conditions for the day.

The National Water Commission (Conagua) warned that the rainfall could be accompanied by electrical discharges, wind gusts and hail, in addition to causing river swelling, landslides and flooding.

The heaviest rain, with accumulations of 25 to 50 millimeters, will be concentrated in five states: Tamaulipas (north), Guerrero (southeast), Oaxaca (southwest), Veracruz (south) and Chiapas (south). Showers of 5 to 25 millimeters are also forecast for Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Puebla, the State of Mexico and Morelos.

Isolated rain of 0.1 to 5 millimeters could occur in Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Mexico City, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

The SMN explained that an upper-level trough will favor precipitation in the west and south of the country, while the fourth cold front, located over the northeast, will interact with a low-pressure channel and another upper-level trough.

The coldest air is expected in the mountainous regions of northern and central Mexico, mainly during the early morning hours. Forecast minimum temperatures are: between -5 and 0 degrees Celsius in the mountain areas of Baja California, Chihuahua and Durango; and between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius in the mountain areas of Sonora, Zacatecas, the State of Mexico, Tlaxcala and Puebla.

Fog banks may also reduce visibility on some highway sections.

In Mexico City, minimums of 10 to 12 degrees and maximums of 25 to 27 degrees are forecast, while Toluca will have minimums of 4 to 6 degrees.

Despite cold conditions in some regions, heat will persist, and the SMN forecasts maximum temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees Celsius in Michoacán (central and coastal), Oaxaca (southeast), Chiapas (west) and Tamaulipas (central). Meanwhile, temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees will extend across states in the northwest, west, northeast and southeast of the country.

A mid-level anticyclonic circulation will keep conditions relatively stable with little chance of rain in the northwest and the Mesa del Norte.

Winds of 10 to 20 kilometers per hour, with gusts of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour, are expected in Chihuahua, Durango, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and Oaxaca. On the western coasts of the Baja California peninsula, waves will reach 2 to 3 meters in height, while in Jalisco, Colima and Michoacán they will be 1 to 2 meters.
