Mexico emergency backpack disaster preparedness, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Mexico’s Coordinación Nacional de Protección Civil (CNPC) has clarified that promoting the emergency backpack is a preventive measure and does not represent an alert for an imminent disaster. The agency said the messages were issued after publications related to the measure.

In a statement issued on November 3, 2026, the federal agency, which is attached to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), explained that the campaigns are part of its usual strategies to encourage prevention and help families prepare for risk situations. It stressed that the messages are not related to international warnings and do not respond to the forecast of a specific emergency.

The CNPC said recommendations about the emergency backpack are shared periodically in coordination with state Civil Protection authorities. Their purpose is to help the public identify the essential items they might need during a contingency and to give them tools to act in an organized way.

An emergency backpack should contain basic items that allow people to meet immediate needs in the event of an evacuation or a situation that interrupts regular services. The content can be adapted to each family’s needs, especially when there are children, older adults, people with disabilities or pets.

The agency also said the campaign is not connected to notices or trends circulating in other countries. It reiterated that the goal is to strengthen a culture of prevention and to keep emergency preparedness from being interpreted as a sign of immediate danger.

Beyond having an emergency backpack, the CNPC emphasized the importance of preparing a Family Civil Protection Plan in advance. This tool helps households set organizational measures, such as identifying evacuation routes, meeting points and the actions each member should take in an emergency.

The federal agency said it will continue to share preventive information to strengthen the response capacity of Mexican communities facing different risks.
