marcha nacional del IMSS, USA News (Mexico): Workers from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) will hold a massive national march this Friday, October 30, concentrating simultaneous mobilizations in at least 21 federal entities. IMSS Emergency Services Operating Normally
Social Security authorities reported that priority services will maintain continuous operation: emergency rooms, hospitalization, intensive care, childbirth care, and hemodialysis. The protesters themselves have indicated that the protests will not imply hospital closures, as participants are mobilizing at the conclusion of their shifts. Anyone with consultations, studies, or procedures scheduled for Friday should stay attentive to official statements from the institute.
For Saturday, October 31, a constituent assembly is scheduled in which dissenters will seek to toughen their upcoming actions if the federal government does not open a formal negotiation table. If dialogue is not forthcoming, protesters could intensify protests and push for paralysis actions. Dissidents demand a more far-reaching wage increase and the renewal of the SNTSS leadership, alongside the intervention of high-level federal government officials in negotiations.
