InnovaFest 2026 and Mexico’s innovation strategy, Digi Mart USA News (Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico): The federal strategy to promote innovation in Mexico received a new endorsement. The Lotería Nacional presented in Mérida, Yucatán, a commemorative ticket for Sorteo Mayor No. 4035 dedicated to InnovaFest 2026, an initiative driven by the Secretaría de Economía, the Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial (IMPI) and state governments to promote public, private and academic innovation in the country.

The presentation took place within the framework of InnovaFest 2026 activities. It included Secretary of Economy Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon; Yucatán Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena; Lotería Nacional Director General Olivia Salomón; IMPI Director General Vidal Llerenas Morales; and InnovaFest coordinator Cecilia Bañuelos Barrón.

During the event, Ebrard said innovation has become a decisive factor for the country’s economic and technological development. He stated that the generation of well-being, wealth and autonomy for Mexico will increasingly depend on the capacity to innovate and to protect the intellectual property associated with knowledge developed within national territory.

The official highlighted that Mexico has strengthened its position in sectors linked to semiconductors, computing, data centers and artificial intelligence, which he considers strategic for competitiveness in the coming years. He also noted that one of the federal government’s objectives is to consolidate an environment that favors new business ventures and strengthens the participation of academic institutions and research centers in this technological transformation.

Governor Díaz Mena said Yucatán seeks to establish itself as a meeting point for talent, investment and innovative ideas in the country. He noted that, through the Renacimiento Maya project, the state is advancing works and projects aimed at creating professional development opportunities for new generations.

Lotería Nacional Director Olivia Salomón stressed that the commemorative ticket seeks to recognize the work of Mexican researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators. She said that behind every invention are stories of perseverance, knowledge and creative capacity that contribute to national development.

IMPI Director General Vidal Llerenas Morales reported that the agency has received approximately 15,500 international patent applications and 2,500 national applications. He added that the institute reduced the resolution time for granting patents to 12 months, with the aim of accelerating the arrival of new technological developments to the market.

InnovaFest coordinator Cecilia Bañuelos Barrón argued that Mexico has the talent needed to develop its own technological solutions and that the strategy is aligned with the objectives of the Plan México to increase national technological content, strengthen local suppliers and raise the added value of products made in the country.

The Lotería Nacional reported that Sorteo Mayor No. 4035 will distribute a total prize pool of 66 million pesos, including a top prize of 21 million pesos across three series. For this draw, 3.6 million cachitos will be distributed nationwide through the traditional network of sellers, authorized points of sale, the institution’s digital platform and its mobile application.

The draw will take place on November 10, 2026, while the commemorative ticket will circulate as a promotional piece to highlight the government strategy aimed at strengthening innovation, applied research and the protection of intellectual property in Mexico.
