Inés Gómez Mont, USA News (Miami, Florida): Inés Gómez Mont, the recognized Mexican television host who has been a fugitive since 2021, was detained on Friday in Miami, Florida, where she apparently resided in recent years.

In a brief message, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported that the arrest was achieved as a result of information exchange and intelligence collaboration between the authorities of the governments of the United States and Mexico. The FGR stated that Gómez Mont holds an active arrest warrant in Mexico for her probable participation in the crime of equivalent tax fraud. Furthermore, authorities indicated that the U.S. processing procedure includes entering data into the corresponding system to send formal electronic notification to Mexican instances regarding her custody status.

Various media outlets published a photograph of the Mexican actress and socialite under the custody of two U.S. federal agents. Both Gómez Mont and her husband, Víctor Álvarez Puga, have been pointed out since 2021 for alleged money laundering, organized crime, and tax fraud, accusations that she previously denied on multiple occasions. Álvarez Puga was arrested in September 2025 by ICE agents for immigration irregularities unrelated to the charges brought by the Mexican government against him and his wife. Since that time, no official information has indicated whether he remains detained at the Krome North Service Processing Center or is at large. The Mexican lawyer is associated with the firm Álvarez Puga & Asociados, which specialized in financial consulting for private individuals and allegedly participated in shell company schemes for tax evasion, public fund diversion, and operations involving illicitly sourced resources.

One year after the arrest of Álvarez Puga, in September 2026, Interpol cancelled the international search alerts for both her and her husband, a measure that the Mexican government sought to appeal and reverse. However, Friday’s arrest of the media personality was carried out in compliance with capture orders stemming from active investigation files in Mexico. As part of these processes, ministerial authorities are investigating her alleged responsibility in serious unlawful conduct as part of actions undertaken to combat corruption networks and irregular financial schemes in Mexico. Gómez Mont faced an arrest warrant issued on June 20, 2023, for the crime of equivalent tax fraud.

Gómez Mont was born into a prominent family of lawyers tied to political power, law, and public administration. Her grandfather, Felipe Gómez Mont, is regarded as one of the founders and ideologues of the National Action Party (PAN), and her uncle, Fernando Gómez Mont—the brother of her father, José—served as Secretary of Interior during the presidency of Felipe Calderón. Nevertheless, Inés chose a professional career in television, initially working as a news presenter at Televisión Azteca before transitioning to entertainment programs such as Ventaneando and Los 25+, and later working at Televisa on ¡Cuéntamelo ya! and the culinary reality show Familias frente al fuego.
