GP de Mexico 2026, USA News (Mexico City): The 2026 Mexican Grand Prix features a security deployment consisting of 4,302 personnel from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), assigned to monitor the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez and its surroundings during the Formula 1 activities running from Friday, October 30, to Sunday, November 1.

Among the preventive measures applied by authorities are friendly breathalyzer tests, security checks, surveillance with canine units, and actions to maintain order in fan access points and concentration areas. The SSC specified that the breathalyzer tests form part of the preventive work within the circuit. However, official information does not establish that this is a mandatory alcohol checkpoint system like those typically implemented on Mexico City roadways.

The deployment also includes medical attention, aerial surveillance, and coordination of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the vicinity of the venue, located in the Iztacalco borough, where Mexican driver Sergio Checo Pérez will compete. During the Formula 1 weekend, the SSC conducts friendly breathalyzer tests as part of measures to prevent incidents among attendees.

These reviews are preventive and take place inside the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, according to capital authorities. So far, the announced device contemplates these tests without confirming mandatory checkpoint installations inside the circuit. Additionally, fans must pass security checks at various venue access points and areas to detect prohibited items.

Security Deployment and Emergency Resources

The security operation began at 06:00 hours on Friday, October 30, and remains active until activities conclude on Sunday, November 1. Personnel are supported by 427 official vehicles, 135 motorcycle patrols, nine cranes, and three drones to supervise the venue and nearby roads.

Police presence covers both the interior of the racetrack and high-concentration points nearby. As part of inspections, the SSC deployed 11 canine units specialized in detecting narcotics, illicit substances, and explosives across access areas, food sales points, and ATMs.

Authorities have also arranged emergency resources, including 15 ambulances, one motorcycle ambulance, a special unit from the Rescue and Medical Emergency Squad (ERUM), 13 medical attention points, and two Condors group helicopters available for emergency support.
