Correos de México, USA News (Mexico): International packages destined for any of the 27 European Union countries will be subject to new customs provisions starting November 1, 2026. On this date, new charges and taxes will enter into force for shipments containing products with a value of less than 150 euros. Correos de México shared this information to warn users about the costs they must factor into their shipments.

The new framework establishes a fee of three euros for each product included in a package that falls below the specified value. It also includes a two-euro customs management fee for each product type, along with any additional taxes established by the receiving country.

Shipments containing exclusively documents will not have to cover these concepts. Correos de México clarified that these measures were determined by the authorities of the member countries of the European Union and are not charges established by the Mexican postal agency.

Payment Responsibilities by European Union Destination

The regulations also establish differences regarding who must carry out the payments, depending on the specific destination. When packages are sent to Germany, Austria, Cyprus, Denmark, Slovakia, Spain, Estonia, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, or Sweden, the sender will be responsible for covering the costs.

Meanwhile, for shipments arriving in Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Slovenia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, and Romania, the payment of the tariff will correspond to the recipient.

Exchange Rates and Support Channels

The institution specified that any tax that must be covered within Mexico will be paid in Mexican pesos, based on the current euro exchange rate valid at the time of making the shipment. It also noted that the provisions are subject to possible modifications by the authorities of each country, advising users to consult the information before completing a transaction.

To verify updated charges, Correos de México has made its official website available at www.gob.mx/correosdemexico. Users can also request information through toll-free numbers 800 701 7000 and 800 701 4500, which are available for nationwide assistance.

Those who prefer to receive written guidance can contact the email address contacto@correosdemexico.gob.mx. Additionally, there is the option to visit post offices in person, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 and 18:30 hours.

Correos de México reiterated that it will keep the public informed about these provisions to provide timely guidance and help individuals complete their international shipments with full knowledge of applicable requirements and charges.
