Coparmex, USA News (CIUDAD DE MÉXICO): As a direct response to the social wounds left by violence, polarization, and the erosion of trust, the Mexican Employers’ Association (Coparmex) alongside representatives from diverse religious traditions have issued an appeal to establish dialogue in order to prevent widening divisions across the country.
To formalize this initiative, they signed the Declaration of Intent For a culture of values, coexistence, and inclusive development, with the objective of combining capabilities to rebuild community bonds and promote a culture rooted in respect, solidarity, and peace.
Leaders noted with concern the rise of various expressions of intolerance, polarization, violence, corruption, impunity, and the loss of benchmarks that support healthy coexistence. Faced with this reality, participants considered it vital to generate spaces for encounter, dialogue, and collaboration to recover and strengthen shared values.
Commitment to Human Dignity
Confronted with the deep wounds and divisions currently affecting Mexico, spiritual values and Coparmex’s business convictions demand an unwavering commitment to human dignity and solidarity. Taking on this collective responsibility, leaders issued an urgent call for fraternity, reconciliation, and peace in a joint statement.
The declaration was signed by Juan José Sierra Álvarez, national president of Coparmex, together with representatives from the Mexican Episcopate Conference, the Evangelical Confraternity of Mexico, Orthodox churches, and the Jewish Community of Mexico.
Fostering Understanding Across Communities
According to the report, achieving this goal requires fostering authentic contributions from cities, religious communities, universities, businesses, unions, and civil society organizations to promote understanding and dialogue as a solid path toward concord and the resolution of common problems.
Beyond differing beliefs, traditions, and worldviews, participants expressed conviction that universal values are shared: respect for human dignity, individual and social responsibility among businesses and institutions, honesty, solidarity, empathy, justice, dialogue, tolerance, and commitment to others.
