Zones d’ombre Michel Fourniret documentary series on france.tv, Digi Mart USA News: Beginning Friday, November 27, France Télévisions’ streaming platform france.tv will release Zones d’ombre, a six-episode documentary event series examining unsolved murders linked to Michel Fourniret. The series, according to the publisher, gives voice to those still searching for the truth, from investigators to victims’ families.
More than twenty years after the crimes, the justice system has not closed every case. The new series explores investigations recently reopened around Michel Fourniret, covering murders committed between 1987 and 2003 and past judicial failures.
Its focus, the publisher says, is less the killer than the pursuit of forgotten crimes and the persistence of those who refuse to give up.
Through testimony from investigators and victims’ families, including relatives of Estelle Mouzin, Lydie Logé, Cécile Vallin and Florence Bloise, the film examines how forensic science techniques have evolved in dealing with serial killers. It raises questions about how a cold case is reopened today and what advances in criminology can achieve where earlier inquiries stalled.
The series uses no narration. Instead, it relies on its participants, who know the case from the inside.
They include lawyers Corinne Herrmann and Didier Seban, who have long supported families of serial-killer victims, magistrate Jacques Dallest, who specializes in unsolved cases, and journalists and forensic police specialists.
The production context reflects a growing focus on cold cases in France. According to the publisher, a judicial unit dedicated to unsolved crimes, the persistence of certain lawyers and advances in scientific analysis now make it possible to revive investigations once considered closed for decades.
Format details: six episodes of 35 to 40 minutes each. Writing by Lise David, Vincent Hérissé and Thierry Fournet; directed by Lise David and Thierry Fournet; produced by AMDA Production with the participation of France Télévisions.
The series will be available on france.tv streaming.
